Book Review: Necessary Restorations and The Cornerstone (The Walshes #3 and #4) by Kate Canterbary

Necessary Restorations (The Walshes, #3)Necessary Restorations by Kate Canterbary
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I loved this book.

I would go as far as to say that this has been my favourite so far in the series. I liked that it looked at some deeper issues with Sam’s character and liked how this played into the development of his relationship with Tiel. This was totally not what I expected of Sam. These initial impression you get of him in previous books is very different to what we see in this book. In previous books he comes across as very socially awkward, almost to the point of seeming that he only fits in with his family members, so I really liked that we got to see another unexpected dimension of his character.

I liked the contrast between Sam and Tiel’s characters: Her boho/hippie style and Sam’s OCD/preppie refinedness. I also like that fact the Tiel didn’t immediately hit it off with Lauren, Andy and Shannon. I think that if she did, things would have seemed too predictable.

This was a really great book and I’m looking forward to reading more of their relationship and characters.

The Cornerstone (The Walshes, #4)The Cornerstone by Kate Canterbary
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

As usual this book was fantastic.

I really loved reading Shannon's story, and was interested to see how the relationship would play out between her and Will especially since he would be away a lot.

I liked how the timeline of this story was laid out, with it recapping Shannon's weekends that were referenced in Sam's book. I enjoyed seeing more of Shannon's character and getting to know her better. I also really liked seeing her paired with Will as they are both very stubborn, and they play off each other well.

This one was really fun to read and a great addition to the series.

Book Review: Underneath It All and The Space Between (The Walshes #1 and #2) by Kate Canterbary

Underneath It All (The Walshes, #1)Underneath It All by Kate Canterbary
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is not something that I would usually read, but I actually really enjoyed this.

This book is a light read and a contemporary romance. The characters are very likeable and there is a good chemistry and dynamic between them all, especially between the Walsh siblings. Even thought the romance between Lauren and Matthew was a bit of a whirlwind, I liked the way that their relationship developed and the way that that they interact with each other.

This book was just really easy reading. The author has a great writing style that flows well and is very engaging.

I would completely recommend this to romance readers that want sorting really lightweight to read.

I look forward to reading more with these characters.

The Space Between (The Walshes, #2)The Space Between by Kate Canterbary
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This was another fantastic read about the Walsh siblings.

Kate Canterbary has a great writing style that just has this really great flow to it, and it makes for really easy reading. The normal run of the mill romance stories are not usually my kind of thing, I tend to like them to have a paranormal element to take away and distract from the mushy romance; but these books are not mushy at all.

I love that the characters are really dynamic and that they all interact well with each other. I love their different personalities and quirks. I like that these book also have a sense of humour to them. I really like the relationship between Andy and Patrick, and look forward to seeing how it will continue to develop in the background of future stories.

This is a great read that I would certainly recommend.

Book Review: Venom (Vampires of Hollywood #2) by Madisyn Ashmore

Venom (Vampires of Hollywood Book 2)Venom by Madisyn Ashmore
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

** I received an ARC copy of this book in exchange for a review **

The chance to read an Arc for this book really couldn't have come at a better time, as I was just about to finish with Viper (book #1). I found myself quite enjoying book one, enough for me to want ot read more and Venom certainly didn't disappoint.

It was interesting to see how Abby developed as a character in this book after being changed by Caleb, as well as the way it affected her relationship with both Caleb and Natalie. I liked that we got to find out a bit more about Caleb's past and get more of an understanding about his relationship with Reina. It was interesting to see how Abby and Caleb dealt with their trust issues over each other's past and the way that it affects their choices.

This books is a really gripping, page turner of a quick read. It's lightweight, and is perfect for anyone that has an afternoon to kill, and likes to read vampire romances with plenty of sex thrown in.

I would definitely read more of this series. But with an ending like that how could I not?!

Book Review: Viper (Vampires Of Hollywood #1) by Madisyn Ashmore

Viper (Vampires of Hollywood, #1)Viper by Madisyn Monroe
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I think I found this book to be okay....."I think", being the key part of that sentence.

I downloaded this as free ebook (not sure where from) and I won't lie, I had incredibly low expectations for this book, in terms of quality when it came to the writing, and description. This is a really quick read. If you want something that is very plot driven with very deep layered characters, then this is not for you. However if you want something light weight, fairly entertaining, with sex and vampires in various states of undress, then this may just be what you are looking for.

I wasn't expecting this to be a piece of literary genius and a future classic, and it's not; so no complaints from me on this point. I expected vampires, check got those. I expected said vampires to described as "the hottest guy you had ever seen", double check. The book is set in Hollywood, so I expected a shallow actor/actress character, we can check that off the list too. I also wasn't surprised to find sex scenes thrown in at every available opportunity. The one thing that I didn't expect this book to be was well written, and I was surprised to find that it was. I know some people thought that there was too much in the way of description, and personally I didn't find the amount of description an issue; I think that if there was less description in this book then people would complain that there wasn't enough, so I guess it's just personal preference. I thought that the descriptions were well written and allowed you to build a clear image in your head of the setting; as well as the overall writing style having a good flow to it and being fairly gripping. I can't deny that this was quite the page turner, and very easy to get caught up in. I think the only minor issues I have with this book is that Abby seems to have mood swings that could give you whiplash at times.

So, I gave this book 4 stars because I got exactly what I expected from it and wasn't disappointed, and therefore I think I found it to be okay. If you want something quick with sexy vampires, then look no further.

Book Review: Dying For Her (Jesse Sullivan #3) by Kory M. Shrum

Dying for Her (Jesse Sullivan, #3)Dying for Her by Kory M. Shrum
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I liked this book a lot.

It was interesting to see things from Brinkley's perspective and to understand a bit more of his backstory. I liked that this book offered up more explanation about Caldwell. As much as it does not continue on from book two, I think that it is a necessary read as sets up future books with us, the reader, knowing what Brinkley knew and put in the notebook that was given to Jesse.

It was nice to see how all of the characters in books one and two came to know each other. I'm looking forward to seeing how Gideon fits into the team in future books and how Jesse reacts to him, as I think that this will be an interesting change in Dynamic. I think it will also be interesting to see how things change if Jeremiah and Nikki start to play a larger role and how that is going to affect the relationships between the individual characters.

I really liked this and think that reading it as book three in the series is the right place for it.

I totally recommend.
