I absolutely loved this book!
A light read that will have you laughing out loud and receiving confused looks from the people around you. Sure it's got some of the standard vampire romance cliches, but I really don't care. This was a fun quick read with all the charm of the Sookie Stackhouse Novels, and a generous helping of Molly Harper's own brand of humour.
This has a great cast of characters. Jane is hilarious, with a flare for snark and sarcasm. She has the whole dysfunctional family dynamic going on, with the overbearing mother that tries to control everything and who will always be disappointed in her. The dad that loves her no matter what and the sister that hates her. Lets not forget the ghost of the beloved aunt Jettie, that lives with Jane. There was no expense spared in the humour department, when it came to watching Jane adjust to her new unlife, and lengths that she would go to in order to avoid revealing that she was a vampire to her family.
Like I said earlier there were elements the you could class as cliched, and I think that mostly applies to the other characters. Gabriel is your stereotypical old fashioned, attractive, charming vampire acting as the primary love interest. Dick is the stereotypical scruffy charming other vampire love interest that doesn't get along particularly well with Gabriel. Then there is Zeb, the quirky childhood best friend that remains human, that is always there to offer moral support.
I personally couldn't care less about the cliches. This had a great story, fantastic characters, brilliant dialogue and ample amounts of humour. If you are looking for a lighthearted, funny romance story with a supernatural twist that is a quick read, then this is totally for you.
