My rating: 5 of 5 stars
This has been a fantastic series, that I have thoroughly enjoyed reading.
I'm slightly saddened by how long it took me to read this, but unfortunately life gets in the way of things. I have loved how this world and the characters in it have developed over the course of the three books. It has been really interesting to see the character's understanding of their world change and to see them come to terms with this 'new truth'.
I also like that the relationship between Tris and Four hasn't been the standard sunshine and rainbows relationship that you get in most YA. I like that they have their ups and downs, arguments and falling outs, it make it feel more believable. It has made for a very gripping read to see them develop and grow as characters. This goes for all the characters. Roth's writing is so good you get completely drawing into caring about all of these characters. The world building is also really well done. I love the contrast between the desolate areas of total destruction, and the high tech lab settings; they are at total odds with each other and yet Roth has created a world where it makes sense to have the two incorporated.
I was not expecting that ending, and again it broke away from the standard YA style HEA. I would definitely read more of Veronica Roth's work. Great writing style and great characters.
I have loved this series and recommend it.
