Book Review: The Bourbon Kings (The Bourbon Kings #1) by J.R. Ward

The Bourbon Kings (The Bourbon Kings, #1)The Bourbon Kings by J.R. Ward
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I really enjoyed this book.

I wasn't sure what to expect from this book; I love J.R Ward's Black Dagger Brotherhood series, and don't normally venture into the non paranormal romance section. As with the Brotherhood, there are a lot of characters in this book and a lot of things going on. I thought that it was a bit slow to start, but I think that was because the characters were being introduced and what their relationships were to each other. Once the story got going I couldn't put this down. This was very involved, and totally put you in amongst the staff and family of a rich southern family that takes dysfunctional to a whole new level.

I really liked the characters, they all have different personalities that are totally believable. I liked the history and development of the relationship between Lane and Lizzie. I can't wait to get my hands on the next book to see how this continues to develop. I also need to know what follows the cliff hanger at the end of this.

I really recommend this for fans of Ward's writing, as per usual she has knocked it out of park.

Great book.
